The Boy In The Stripped Pajamas

The Boy in The Stripped Pajamas
John Boyne
216 Pages

The Boy In the Stripped Pajamas is about a German boy named Bruno.  Bruno loved to play and discover many new and old places but he doesn't know that too much exploring can get him in trouble.  One day, Bruno's Dad received a promotion and became a Nazi Commandant.  This caused everyone to move to a new house called Out-With and close to the house was a Nazi concentration camp.

When Bruno was unpacking he looked out his window only to see people in stripped pajamas.  When Bruno went exploring he found the camp and a boy named Shmuel by the barbed fence.  Shmuel was a Jewish boy (also known as a Jew) who was in the Nazi camp.  Later on in the book Shmuel and Bruno become friends and goes on an adventure that would end the both of them.

Here is a song that would describe Bruno.

You Are LOST!

If I had to choose a character from Magician’s Nephew that I would be lost in a forest with, I would choose Polly.  I would choose Polly because she is smart and honest.  She would also remind me if I were to do something stupid that would harm both of us.  Another reason why I would choose Polly is because she is so smart that we would probably find a way out of the forest, and if we couldn’t she would probably be able to find food and create some shelter for us.

Corporal Punishment Document

Corporal Punishment Aides
http://goodmenproject.com/newsroom/wait-paddling-kids-is-still-legal/
A common form of punishment used in the early 1900s is called corporal punishment. Corporal punishment would include physical discipline such as spanking, slapping of the wrist, and getting whipped on the behind.  The teachers used long flat wooden paddles, wood rulers, and bamboo canes to punish the children.  They would make the child bend over and slap them with a wooden paddle multiple times.  The wooden ruler was used hit the students’ hand multiple times.  Corporal punishment continues to be legal in 19 states.

An example of corporal punishment.

The Fall of Jadis

9-6-13

It was really hard but I did it, I finally teleported Jadis to the woods between the worlds.  It wasn’t easy I got a busted lip and I can taste the blood.  I had to hold on to her ankle with all my strength, as she was trying to kick me off.  As I can see I brought some people and a horse with me.  Jadis begins to shrink and loose her powers; now she is as tall as the horse. I am relived that Jadis is done abusing the horse and we prevented her from ruling our world.

The horse is thirsty and gets a drink of water from one of the many shallow ponds.  Suddenly we slide into a dead black space and we don’t really know where we are.  I can hear an emotionless, clear buzzing voice coming from the distance.  While we listen to the voice get louder and louder I can see stars.  It almost feels like I am looking into the night sky.  There seems to be a bright and vibrant light, like it was the sun coming over the hills at sunrise.  As I look around I can see the people I teleported with: My beloved friend Polly, my conceded and selfish Uncle Andrew, the small not so empowered Jadis, and the calming cabby with his horse.
